Llangollen Standard Four Trust Restoring 80072
Last Updated 19 April 2001
The small picture that you see on the left is Driver Roy Shelley by "his" locomotive and the picture below is Driver Roy Shelley driving "his" locomotive. Sadly Roy will not see 80072 steam again, however, it is the aim of those of us connected with the restoration of 80072 that we will see her steaming through the Welsh countryside on the Llangollen Railway in the not too distant future. Roy's son Dave is a member of the project and has penned a few words for us at Driver Roy Shelley
The pages that follow will give you an idea of what is going on and what needs to be done. We have another website which is used a method of communicating to the members. It contains minutes of the meetings but most of all a comprehensive photo gallery of 80072 when it was in BR service.
If you want access that website all you have to do is join! There are various ways of joining dependent upon your personal circumstances (ie the size of your pocket). Membership of the Charitable Trust costs as little as £8 per annum and that will give you access to the "secret" website, our regular magazine (to which you can contribute if you have anything that may be of interest to us - we are always on the lookout for material), plus inside knowledge of the progress on the engine, the ability to work on the engine, being there for the first steaming, riding on the foot plate - dependent upon the level of your contribution you may even be able to drive it.
This is driver Shelley at work on 80072 - join us and this could be you!
